• Application of Quantum Technologies for Practical Tasks, by Sergey Tikhonov and Miroslava Bondarenko - ISSAmembers, Russia.The authors discuss the threat of quantum computing for classical cryptography. Quantum computers can solve some mathematical problems many times faster than classical, digital computers. Among the algorithms developed for accelerating calculations on quantum computers some can calculate the private key from a public key almost instantly.
• It's Not the End of Cryptography as We Know It, by Karen Martin.In theory, quantum computers threaten the security of some of the most widely used encryption schemes, including RSA and Diffie-Hellman. As the author discusses, the future will always be uncertain, but for the time being it appears that quantum computing will not spell the end of crypto as we know it.
• Biometric Electronic Signatures,by Phillip Griffin - ISSA Fellow, Raleigh Chapter. This article discusses mutual and multi-factor authentication based on passwords combined with biometrics.
• When Side-Channel Attacks Meet Quantum-Safe Cryptography, by Zhenfei Zhang.This article explains the concept of quantum-safe cryptography, its vulnerability to side-channel attacks, and a potential remedy known as constant time implementations.
• Opportunities and Threats - Part 1: An Overview, Promises, and Introduction to Quantum Cryptography, by Seetharaman Jeganathan.This article discusses quantum computing in two parts. In part one, the author shares an overview of quantum computing, new opportunities and promises leveraging quantum computing, and concludes with an introduction to quantum cryptography. Part two discusses potential threats to current public key cryptosystem and an overview of proposed mitigation options.
